I developed my Age-Proof Brain course while working in banking outside of Philadelphia, PA. I had listened to an audiobook by 8-time world memory champion Dominic O'Brien called Quantum Memory and I was intrigued and delighted about how I could use his techniques to improve my memory.
I decided the best way to deepen my understanding of his techniques was to teach them. I started teaching at night schools and count elder weeks and finally at Immaculata University's Lifelong Learning Program in Malvern, PA.
Once I began teaching I discovered two things I wasn't expecting. First two-thirds of the class were women and just about everyone was more concerned about brain health and Alzheimer's disease prevention. I have always been interested in health, so I began an in-depth study of brain health. I read extensively and listened to dozens of audiobooks.
Eventually I came up with the mnemonic DRESSeD for Brain Health Success. as a hat tip to the best selling book Dress for Success by John Molloy. These represented the 6 key areas to improve brain health: Diet, Relaxation (really Stress but I had too many S's already), Exercise, Sleep, Stimulation (both social and mental) and Detoxification.
